Arts on the Ridge To Sponsor Three Summer Camps

Arts on the Ridge, in conjunction with the Batesburg-Leesville Chamber of Commerce and Lexington County School District 3, is proud to announce they will offer three exciting Summer Arts Enrichment Camps for students, June 24-27.  The camps will be held at Batesburg-Leesville Middle School and all camps are open to all children in public schools, private schools or home schooled students.  Students wishing to participate in any of the camps are not required to live in the Lexington 3 attendance zone.

This year’s camps include:

Visual Arts Camp – B-L Middle School art teacher Amber Bouknight and retired art teacher Carolyn Ellis will return for their second year as instructors for this camp.  Children who will be in the fourth through eighth grades during the 2019-20 school year will be eligible to participate and will have the opportunity to work with numerous visual art techniques.  This camp will be held from 9 a.m. until 12 noon, Monday through Thursday.

Performing Arts Camp – The Baillie Players, a touring theatre company, will return for the third year to present “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”  Children entering the third through seventh grades in fall 2019 are eligible to attend.  This camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday, 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday (rehearsal time).

Choral Camp – this new camp is open to all students who will enter either second or third grade in fall 2019.  Kendall Reese, music teacher at B-L Primary School, will share her love of singing with these youngsters and will help to develop their vocal skills.  This camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

Participating students will have the opportunity to participate in the Lexington District 3 Summer Feeding program during the week of camp.  Breakfast will be served from 8:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. and lunch will be served from 12 noon until 12:30 p.m.  All meals are free and will be served in the B-L Middle School cafeteria.
