Five students from Lexington County School District Three had the privilege of participating in the 46th annual session of the American Legion Nathan M. Wolfe Law Cadet Academy from June 15th through 21st at the SC Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia. Congratulations to Aubrie Boehnke (a rising B-L High School junior), Deontavius Coleman (a rising B-L High School junior), Brook Kornet (a 2019 B-L High School graduate), Kenneth Robinson (a rising B-L High School freshman), and Thompson Taylor (a rising B-L High School sophomore) for successfully completing the program.
The Law Cadet Academy started in 1973 for high school students who are interested in a possible future career in the field of law enforcement. Participants are immersed in an environment of structure and discipline and are guided through a week of instructions, lectures and hands-on training with the intent of helping them gain a better understanding of the day-to-day demands of law enforcement officials.
Congratulations to Brook Kornet who was voted as the 2019 Cadet Assistant Chief. In addition, Deontavius Coleman was named as the 2019 Outstanding Male Cadet and was the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship.
