First-Ever Panther Archery Team Formed

B-L High School teacher Alex Richardson has started Lexington Three's first-ever Panther Archery Team, which is composed of both middle and high school students. The SC Department of Natural Resources provided an archery equipment kit valued at $3,000 to the district. The kit includes bows, arrows, targets, a bow rack, a backdrop net, and a repair tool kit for maintenance of the equipment.

"I am excited to start the Archery Team because the program promotes character development, world class knowledge and skills, and life and career characteristics. Physical, emotional and social benefits can be gained from regular participation which builds confidence, self-esteem, camaraderie, friendship, teamwork, leadership, discipline, sportsmanship, and other lifelong skills for success. Communication, cooperation, fulfilling commitments, following rules and showing respect are important behaviors for responsibility to self and others. Students participating in the Archery program tend to work harder in the classroom and feel more connected to their school," said Coach Richardson.

Competitions will commence in January for the team. Good luck, Panthers!
