B-L Elementary School Staff Serves as Grand Marshal of Christmas Parade

It’s been more than eight months since B-L Elementary School was named Palmetto’s Finest, but the accolades continue for the school’s hardworking staff members as they had the privilege of serving as the Grand Marshal of the Batesburg-Leesville annual Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 2nd.

The parade began on Columbia Avenue near Bojangles, wound down Main Street in Leesville and ended at Leesville College Park.  Following the parade, there was a tree lighting ceremony, attendees enjoyed hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows, and there was a special holiday performance by members of the B-L Elementary School Honors Choir and the Central Carolina Performing Arts Center.  Of course, Santa and Mrs. Clause were also on hand for complimentary pictures.

“We are so very grateful for the continued support of the Batesburg-Leesville community and are honored to serve as the Grand Marshal of the town’s Christmas parade.  This honor is a well-deserved treat for our faculty and staff as they went above and beyond last school year to ensure that we were named as one of Palmetto’s Finest,” said Matt Velasquez, Principal of B-L Elementary School.

The holiday event was sponsored by the Town of Batesburg-Leesville, the Batesburg-Leesville Chamber of Commerce, the Batesburg-Leesville Ministerial Alliance, and KJ’s Market.
