B-L Elementary School Receives $18K Grant

B-L Elementary School recently received a “Raising the Arts Academic Standard” grant in the amount of $18,000 from the South Carolina Department of Education. Art teacher Karen Wheeler and music teacher Kristin Pugh applied for the grant with the goal of improving the quality of the arts programs available to students at B-L Elementary School.

Community Is Reminded Of School Bus Safety With Special Week

National School Bus Safety Week ran from October 22nd through the 26th and this year’s theme was “My Driver - My Safety Hero.” The goal of the special week, which is always held during the third full week of October, is to serve as a reminder for students, parents, teachers and the community that school bus safety should always be kept in mind.

Lexington Three Supporter Honored As WIS-TV Community Builder

On Tuesday, September 25th, Richland County resident Joan Talley made the journey to B-L Elementary School to donate around 1,000 books to students, not knowing that a huge surprise was waiting on her there. That surprise was WIS News 10 anchor Sam Bleiweis who joyfully gave Mrs. Talley the exciting news that she had been selected as one of their station’s Community Builders.

Lexington Three Raises $1,619 For United Way

Lexington County School District Three recently held a district-wide fundraising campaign for the United Way, which is a nonprofit organization that partners with other local nonprofits, businesses, donors and social service agencies to address community needs. Altogether, the district’s employees raised a total of $1,619 for the organization.

Lexington Three Student Earns Perfect Score On State Assessment

B-L Elementary School student Aika Moore earned a perfect score on the Mathematics portion of the South Carolina College-and Career-Ready (SC READY) assessment that she took back in May. Aika, who is currently a fourth grader at BLES, was recognized for her tremendous achievement at the Lexington County School District Three Board of Trustees meeting on September 19th.

B-L High School Students Receive Diplomas From Law Cadet Academy

Four students from B-L High School were honored at the September 19th Lexington County School District Three Board of Trustees meeting for receiving a diploma from the American Legion Nathan M. Wolfe Law Cadet Academy. The students participated in the program June 16th through 22nd at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia.
