Substitute Information

To become a substitute in Lexington District Three, you must first complete a Substitute Application in AppliTrack. Proof of education (Diploma/GED), Teaching Certificate, and/or your ParaPro exam results should be included with your AppliTrack application.

As additional subs are needed: applications are reviewed, candidates are selected, mandatory SLED and Sex Offender checks are completed, and references are checked. Next, the results of a tuberculin (TB) test completed within 364 days on a DHEC 1420 form, along with a copy of your driver’s license, and social security card must be submitted before hire.

If selected to sub, you will be notified by phone. When you are called to work your first day as a substitute, please contact Veronica Gates at 803-532-1746 to schedule an appointment to complete employment paperwork. This needs to be done on your first day as a substitute.

Classroom Substitute Pay

● $80 per day - substitute with a high school diploma/GED

● $85 per day - substitute with a Bachelor’s Degree or ParaPro Certification

● $100 per day - substitute who holds a current teaching certificate or retired educator certificate

● Pay is listed below for district employees who substitute for a different job, such as food service operator or custodian.

● Substitute pay is based on ¼ day increments. Substitutes will be paid a minimum of ½ day and ¾ day on early release days.

Long-Term Classroom Substitute Pay (5 or more consecutive days in the same assignment)

● Pay will increase $5.00 per day on the 21st consecutive day.

● A certified teacher who does not hold a current certificate in the subject area being taught will be paid $100.00 for the first 20 days of a consecutive long term assignment. On the 21st day, this will increase to certification class and years of experience listed on the certificate.

● A certified teacher or a retired teacher who holds a current professional teaching certificate in the subject area being taught will be paid based on certification class and years of experience listed on the certificate. Pay will begin on the first day of the assignment, as long as the substitution is for 5 consecutive days or longer .
