Mrs. Andrea Derrick's Gifted and Talented class at B-L Elementary School recently completed a design-build project focused on the book “What Do You Do With An Idea.”

The class explored the text, analyzed the illustrations and discovered the moral of the story. Students then created their own goals of how they could change the world with one simple idea.

To close the lesson, students had to design a structure with a removable roof to house their big idea, with the moveable roof allowing the idea to escape into the world to make a difference.

On October 19th, the class hosted almost 20 visitors from B-L Elementary School as well as district administrators and they shared their ideas and their constructed houses.

Students focused on strong presentational skills while talking about their projects including eye contact when speaking, confidence when answering questions, etc.

All of the students did a terrific job!
