January Is National Mentoring Month

January 27th is “Thank Your Mentor Day.”

I am asking the community to reach out, alongside Lexington County School District Three and myself, to thank our wonderful mentors. They are the ones who have committed themselves tirelessly during the school year to participate as a mentor.

THANK YOU – Donna W. Boozer, Mike Bothwell, Donna L. Crapps, B. Lynn Goodman, Teresa Harmon, Doris Hicks, Rosa Hix, Lisa W. Isenhower, Freida Isreael, DeVeto Johnson, Stephen E. Padgett, Elizabeth Phillips, Daylene Pitts, Darlene E. Simpkins, Eurlee Steadman, Renee Steadman and Tricia Wilburn.

Sometimes these friendships are made for a lifetime. Mentoring is helping a student to succeed with a positive outlook academically and as a result, we will all benefit from their success.

C.S. Lewis was a British writer and lay theologian. One of his famous books is The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. He once wrote: “A truly great mentor is hard to find, difficult to part with, and impossible to forget.”

We cannot change the circumstances of a child, but we can start by making a difference in his/her life.

Anyone interested in becoming a mentor can contact me, Elizabeth Phillips, at 803 960-1005.
